Career Strategist & Coach
Carl Wellenstein, Lead Career Coach
Carl Wellenstein is the founder and president of ExecGlobalNet, Inc. He has more than twenty-five years of business and personnel development experience in the US and abroad. During that time, he has coached and mentored executives and managers through job and career changes in a range of industries and occupations. He knows first-hand the challenges that an experienced executive or manager faces when trying to change his or her job or career. Having owned and managed an international executive search firm in the UK for seven years and having sat in on countless interviews with employers and other recruiters, he knows how employers and recruiters think and operate.
He started his career in financial management roles, including five years with a savings and loan company and 15 years in public accounting with Arthur Young & Co. (now Ernst & Young). Five of those years was spent as managing partner of the firm's Saudi Arabian practice. Upon leaving public accounting, he became president of a startup company that was to provide an innovative method of delivering diabetes education. Unfortunately, following the stock market crash in October 1987, the company closed in 1989 when it failed to attract additional financing.
In 1992, he moved to the UK and started Bartwell International (UK) Ltd., an international executive search firm, which he managed for seven years. In 1993, he and a colleague started a career consultancy and developed a senior-level comprehensive career search program. They developed career management seminars, workshops, and one-on-one career coaching in 1994. Returning to the US, Carl launched ExecGlobalNet in 2000 to create a unique way for executives to make job changes without having to disclose their identities and without initially needing a resume.
In addition to teaching career-related subjects, he has taught accounting, auditing and management skills in the US, Europe and the Middle East to professionals from several different countries with a wide variation of skills and experience. He also taught Intermediate Accounting at California State University at Los Angeles.
Carl is the author of 12 Steps to a New Career and has written several publications, including three booklets in the UK: Guidelines for a Job Search: Helpful Hints for Job Seekers, Recruiting Key Personnel: Guidelines for Emerging Growth Companies, and The UK Society of CPAs Reference Guide to British - American Terminology. He writes articles on executive job changing, executive resumes, and expatriate repatriation issues, and has contributed articles on business development and tax to magazines focusing on the Middle East market, and co-wrote Arthur Young & Co.'s first book on Doing Business in Saudi Arabia.
